Christmas at Immanuel Crystal Lake

Experience Christmas at Immanuel Crystal Lake

Our theme for this year’s Advent and Christmas season is, “Through the Eyes of a Child.”

We all have wonderful memories of those magical times of anticipation of what Christmas might bring when we were growing up. Whether it was the snowflakes falling lazily from the sky on a bright star lit night, or the smell of pine trees that surrounded us on our meandering journey through Christmas tree forest searching for the “perfect Christmas tree.” Or, for me, the children’s program on Christmas Eve at church, hearing the amazing story of God invading the earth with a baby that would save the world—there is no time or season more meaningful than Christmas.

Please join us for the Sundays and Wednesdays of Advent as we look again through the wonderful eyes of children to see how Christmas is indeed, “the most wonderful time of the year.”

    Christmas Cantata Service

Immanuel’s Christmas cantata tradition began in 2017. Director of Music, Robert Blazek began our cantata tradition in his first year at Immanuel. This season’s cantata, “Sing to the Child” is in the form of Lessons and Carols and is Immanuel’s ninth consecutive cantata, even during the pandemic a virtual cantata was presented!

Lessons and Carols originated in England in the late 19th century and consists of scripture readings followed by a Christmas carol. The typical form has nine readings and carols.

“Sing to the Child” is a cantata for choir and orchestra in ten movements. Filled with familiar carols: O Come, All Ye Faithful, Angels We Have Heard on High and Joy to the World. This cantata will prepare our hearts for the coming of our Savior.

Beloved Christmas pieces will take us on a journey from Advent to Christmas. The title piece “Sing to the Child” invites all Christians to raise their voice in praise of our new born King.
